Encodes the Nectin-4 protein, a type I transmembrane adhesion molecule belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily that plays critical roles in cell-cell adhesion, epithelial integrity maintenance, and immune modulation – for research and development in the context of research in cancer biology (particularly in urothelial carcinoma and breast cancer), viral entry mechanisms (as an entry receptor for measles virus and pseudorabies virus), and development of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) or other targeted therapies against Nectin-4-expressing malignancies
