CleanPlex amplicon-based SARS-CoV-2 NGS panels are designed for Coronavirus research and surveillance, enabling complete genome sequencing of the SARS-CoV-2 virus responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic. The Add-on v2 primers are used in conjunction with the SARS-CoV-2 FLEX Panel for even more robust coverage of emerging variants such as delta, mu, and the most recent omicron variants BA.1, BA.2, and BA.3 for confident calling as the virus mutates.
•Robust Coverage – Added primers for enhanced coverage of newly discovered variants and their sub-lineages such as Omicron, Delta, Mu, Beta, and Alpha
•Additional Confidence in Variant Calling – Optimized for identifying existing and new mutations for surveillance and tracking, especially with ”super-amplicon” formation in base panels
•Easy Spike-in Workflow – Directly add to existing CleanPlex FLEX panel for ease of use and flexible future updates
The SARS-CoV-2 Emerging Variant Panel Add-on v2 is designed to be used with the existing CleanPlex SARS-CoV-2 FLEX NGS Panel to maintain high coverage for variant calling and identification as the virus evolves.
The new variants of concern, particularly the recently discovered Omicron variant from South Africa contain mutations in the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the spike protein, which have been shown to significantly increase infection rates and can negatively impact the efficacy of the recently developed vaccines and current COVID-19 qPCR mass testing methods. Thus, a robust detection method and continued screening and surveillance are more critical than ever in our continued global efforts to control this pandemic.
The Emerging Variants Panel Add-on v2 has been specifically optimized to address the emerging variants by targeting the unique mutations in the S gene, and by cross-referencing the FLEX panel design for uniform coverage and confident identification of their defining mutations,. The Emerging Variant Panel-Addon V2 has been confirmed in-silico to cover all defining and characteristic mutations of the sub-lineages of omicron: BA.1, BA.2, and BA.3
